چکیده

The latest version of the Community Climate System Model (CCSM) Community Atmosphere Model, Version 3 (CAM3), has been released to allow for numerical integration at a variety of horizontal resolutions. One goal of the CAM3 design was to provide comparable large-scale simulation fidelity over a range of horizontal resolutions through modifications to adjustable coefficients in the parameterized treatment of clouds and precipitation. Coefficients are modified to provide similar cloud radiative forcing characteristics for each resolution. Simulations with the CAM3 show robust systematic improvements in a variety of features, most notably associated with the large-scale dynamical circulation. We will focus on simulation differences between the two principal configurations of the CAM3, which differ by a factor of two in their horizontal

A sensitivity analysis of the flood safety of Solaimantangeh dam using a regional climate change simulation is presented. Based on the output of the CCSM (Community Climate Change System Model) general circulation model, the NIRCM (North of Iran Regional Climate Model) computes regional scale output with 50 km spatial resolution and 21 vertical layers. Using the SRES (Special Report Emission Sc...

Tian et al., (2004a), Oleson et al., (2003), and Tian et al., (2004b) recently identified significant differences between the current land surface parameters of the Community Land Model (CLM) used with the Community Climate System Model (CCSM), and global land surface descriptions from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite mapping. Specifically these investigations ide...

Simulations of Arctic mixed-phase clouds in forecasts with CAM3 and AM2 for M-PACE

[1] Simulations of mixed-phase clouds in forecasts with the NCAR Atmosphere Model version 3 (CAM3) and the GFDL Atmospheric Model version 2 (AM2) for the MixedPhase Arctic Cloud Experiment (M-PACE) are performed using analysis data from numerical weather prediction centers. CAM3 significantly underestimates the observed boundary layer mixed-phase cloud fraction and cannot realistically simulate...
